Energy Storage Systems – Possible Impacts on Maritime Sector
S. Thangalakshmi*, V. Ganeshram
DOI: 10.17148/IJIREEICE.2022.10601
Abstract: Typical marine vehicles either use diesel or diesel-electric power, which produces toxic pollutants that impact the health of those who live near the harbour. The use of the Battery-operated Electric Propulsion (pure-electric) technology would decrease hazardous pollutants emitted by sea vehicles to zero. Concerns over critical environmental degradation and fossil fuel usage have captivated the automotive market, particularly in maritime vessels, in recent times. The oscillations generated by strong dynamic loads serve as an additional difficulty in ships. To improve stability in shipboard power systems, many generators are now maintained online at far lower than their efficient point. So, to increase the fuel mileage of shipboard power systems, a simple option, a compromise between fuel savings and durability, might be presumed: minimal generator operation with ensured safety. In contrast to previous systems in which propulsion and service loads are powered by distinct generators, propulsion and service loads are linked into a shared network in pure-electric ships to achieve reduced fuel economy with lower emissions. Integration of an energy storage system (ESS) is said to be a useful strategy for increasing the reliability of the shipboard power system. Batteries, ultra-capacitors, flywheels, and fuel cells are examples of energy storage technologies that are now employed in a variety of applications. Marine batteries are particularly developed for sea transport, having larger plates and more resilient structure to handle the stress and hammering that might arise on any powerboat. These batteries have been designed specifically to suit the prospective and future demands of marine transportation applications. This study examines many types of maritime energy storage devices that have been widely employed to enhance the overall efficiency of sea transport.

DOI: 10.17148/IJIREEICE.2022.10602
Abstract: Face-noticing has been on every side for ages. Taking ahead, human emotion is exhibited by face and it can be felt by brain, it is apprehended either in video form, electric signal (EEG) or image form can be estimated. Human emotion noticing is the need of the hour so that contemporary artificial intelligence systems can imitate and measure the reactions from face. This can be obliging to make notified resolution by it viewing recognition of purpose, furtherance of afford or certainty related warning. Acknowledging sensation from images or video is an insignificant task for human eye, but to demonstrate is very daring for machines and requires many image-processing approaches for feature extraction. Some machine learning algorithms are fit for this piece of work. Any finding or identification by machine learning needs instruction algorithm and then experiment them on an acceptable dataset. This paper traverse a duo of machine learning algorithms as well as feature descent methods which would help us in precise recognition of the human emotion.
Abstract: Rapid penetration of renewable energy sources connected to the grid and distribution systems with power electronic circuits have changed the expected grid requirements to guarantee an appropriate performance under grid faults. This paper presents the analysis of SRF PLL for distorted grid conditions. An exact detection of phase and fundamental frequency of grid current is essential for the control algorithm of grid connected power converter circuit. A control model of the SRF PLL is developed and is made on tuning the system under distorted grid conditions like harmonics and dc offsets. The SRF PLL can be completely implemented in software with pre-filters. The pre-filters are band pass and high pass filters these can be used to reduce harmonics present in the input and high pass filter alone can reduce the dc offset present in the input. The effects of high pass and band pass filters on dc offsets are analyzed. The superior performance of proposed pre-filter-based SRF PLL phase detection system is studied and the obtained results are compared with SRF PLL-based phase detection to confirm the feasibility of the study under different grid environment such as high-harmonic injection. All analytical results are verified using MATLAB software.

DOI: 10.17148/IJIREEICE.2022.10605
Abstract: Cloud computing is an important technology on current demanding business requirements and it has been emerged as unavoidable technology. The usage of IaaS Service storage for Cloud Computing is being expanding exponential every year. The cloud storages are used by the cloud user due to its economy compared with other storage methods. The replications of files helps user for easy access with high availability which reduces the overall access time of the files, but at the same time it occupies more storage space and result in high storage cost. The cloud user holds multiple times of the storage than what he is actually needed. It is a dire need of system to find unwanted files in the cloud and also optimize the storage space by evaluating through file access frequency.
This paper propose Cloud Storage Monitoring (CSM) system, which monitor the IaaS storage usage and analyze the file access patterns by various parameters to identify the frequency of access, size, future access prediction, replication of files in the cloud storage. This allocates a ranking for each file which also predicts future access pattern. This generates a recommendation dashboard to the user who can decide on the operations such as reorganize, delete or archive the files and eliminate duplicate files in the cloud storage which can increase the space for future use. This system is experimented in the CloudSim environment and validate through multiple simulations testing, by using comparison techniques related to file attributes, delta versionhashing, Data de-duplication. The ranking algorithm technique applied on frequency distribution shows that increase in the storage space up to 10.91% higher than the normal system. It also helps to forecast towards future files usability prediction and prevents the duplicate entries.

DOI: 10.17148/IJIREEICE.2022.10606
Abstract: WBAN (Wireless Body Area Network) is the newest branch of networking and data communication. Sensor networks meant to run autonomously to connect different additional sensors (medical, position, and geographic) and appliances have grown more resilient and efficient thanks to rapid improvements in wireless communication and semiconductor technology. We create a network that includes intra-body and inter-body communication. Every body is regarded as an autonomous system (AS) capable of mobility and communication with other autonomous systems (AS) with distinct Autonomous System Numbers (ASN). Sensors and other items installed on or inside the body make up the intra-body network. These are the network's nodes, which are linked together by links. A Body Area Network is built to connect the nodes, allowing them to communicate with one another. As a result, information is exchanged and real-time sensor interdependability ideas are realised. The latter is what the inter-body communication system is made up of. This network is made up of a large number of intra-body networks that are linked together to share information in a secure manner. When connected and tested, this network will allow military personnel to share private and critical information. The information that will be transmitted across the network is password secured. This would prevent intruders from gaining access to TOP-SECRET data or information.

Abstract: Fishing businesses facing a major financial problem throughout the globe due to illegal fishing. Through this illegal fishing, we are pushing many fish populations to extinction. This paper proposes illegal fishing using data analytics and machine learning techniques. In existed papers they used data manipulation in illegal fishing data because of that there was a delay in catching the illegal vessels and in that system the data given is manual. In our paper, we are proposing data analytics to find these vessels.
We can gather the primary data from the Global Fishing Watch (GFW), we analyze this data and find the vessels whether they are used for illegal fishing or legal. Based on the sensors attached to the vessel we can find AIS location data, type of the vessel, and speed of the vessel. By our model, we can predict illegal fishing and can take necessary actions against the illegal fishing boats.

Abstract: Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder. Normally, with a proper adjusting of blood glucose levels (BGLs), diabetic patients could live a normal life without the risk of having serious complications that normally developed in the long run. However, blood glucose levels of most diabetic patients are not well controlled for many reasons. Although the traditional prevention techniques such as eating healthy food and conducting physical exercise are important for the diabetic patients to control their BGLs, however taking the proper amount of insulin dosage has the crucial rule in the treatment process. In this project we are using Gradient Boosting Classifier to predict diabetes and then using Linear Regression algorithm to predict insulin dosage in diabetis detected patients. To implement this project we are using PIMA diabetes dataset and UCI insulin dosage dataset. We are training both algorithms with above mention dataset and once after training we will upload test dataset with no class label and then Gradient Boosting will predict presence of diabetes and Linear Regression will predict insulin dosage if diabetes detected by Gradient Boosting.

Abstract: A graphical password is an authentication system that works by having the user to select from images, in a specific order, presented in a graphical user interface. Computer security largely depends on the passwords to authenticate the users from the attackers. Generally, the computer authentication method that is used is alphanumerical usernames and passwords. However, this method has some significant drawbacks. To address these kinds of problems, some researchers have developed the authentication methods that use pictures as passwords. In this project, we conduct a comprehensive survey of the existing graphical password techniques and provide a possible theory and the domain is Block chain and Cyber security. The algorithm that is used in this project is Persuasive cued click points (PCCP) With Improved Advanced Encryption Standard (IAES). The PCCP and IAES features are implemented together for the graphical password authentication system. Graphical passwords have been proposed as an alternative to the text-based schemes, by the fact that humans can remember pictures better than text since pictures are generally easier to be remembered or recognized than text.

Abstract: In today’s modern world, generation of fake certificates is not a big deal. In educational institutions and Recruitment Organizations, the problem of submission of forged certificates is increasing. It is difficult for the Authorities to identify a certificate as original or modified. Storing the original certificates with Digital Signatures and Hash codes, helps us identify a certificate distinctly, later we can able to validate any copy of the certificates we stored and prove it as original one based on generation of hash code for the certificate we want to validate. Today, cryptography is used to protect digital data. It is a division of computer science that focuses on transforming data into formats that cannot be recognized by unauthorized users. A digital signature is a mathematical technique used to validate the authenticity and integrity of any data.SHA-256 is used to produce Hash codes for the certificates, it generates an almost-unique 256-bit signature for any data. SHA-256 is one of the successor hash functions to SHA-1, and is one of the strongest hash functions available.

Abstract: Precision attitude control subsystems are now more essential than ever because of recent developments in the spacecraft manufacturing sector. One of the complex spaceship subsystems, attitude control, is frequently hampered by both internal and external disturbances. The output torque of a reaction wheel should, in theory, be proportional to the input current, even though there are numerous disturbances in practice. This proposal provides a technique to implement the change in the allocated torque to the wheel that takes disturbance torques into account. The results then demonstrate how disturbance torques affect the reaction torque and wheel speed of the reaction wheel.

Abstract: Indeed, even with the present advances in high innovation, the notoriety of vehicles (electric) stays restricted and it is unfit to turn into a standard mode of transportation. The fundamental justification behind this is on the grounds that the battery pack's streams or limits, like its cumbersomeness, high weight (weighty), and gradualness accused of s short life expectancy and high poisonousness risk. Among them are - because of these issues, slow charging speed becomes the main variable to consider. When it comes to purchasing an electric vehicle there are a couple of interesting points. In this manner, different charging procedures should be completely examined to track down the proper solution to these issues. In the present serious battery charging strategy, numerous charger makers guarantee to have the option to charge the batteries in just 1 hr or less. Different charging techniques, like consistent voltage, steady current and beat the charge, have been researched and contrasted all together with the augment the exhibition. Charging time changes relying upon the kind of battery pack.

Abstract: Along with the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), waste management has appeared as a serious issue. Waste management is a daily task in urban areas, which requires a large amount of labour resources and affects natural, budgetary, efficiency, and social aspects. Many approaches have been proposed to optimize waste management, such as using the nearest neighbour search, colony optimization, genetic algorithm, and particle swarm optimization methods. However, the results are still too vague and cannot be applied in real systems, such as in universities or cities. Recently, there has been a trend of combining optimal waste management strategies with low-cost IoT architectures. In this paper, we propose a novel method that vigorously and efficiently achieves waste management by predicting the probability of the waste level in trash bins. By using machine learning and graph theory, the system can optimize the collection of waste with the shortest path.

Abstract: The majority of successful mechatronic automatic braking systems have an ultrasonic wave emitter installed on the front of the vehicle, which generates and emits ultrasonic waves. Additionally, a reflecting Ultrasonic wave signal is operationally received by an ultrasonic receiver that is mounted to the front of the automobile. The distance between the obstruction and the vehicle is determined by the reflected wave (detected pulse). Then, for safety reasons, a microcontroller is used to manage the speed of the vehicle based on the information from the detecting pulse to depress the brake pedal and apply the brakes firmly to the automobile.

Abstract: The outdated way for deposition of a bill of energy consumption results in unwanted fault and wastage of time. Thus this paper imposes a completely new idea of " Prepaid Energy Meter with GSM Modem using pic microcontroller’’ to facilate power utility and minimize the labor work. Proposed system is good for electricity distribution board, non-public companies, IT parks & in residential areas also. The motive of this paper is to develop and design a Prepaid Energy Meter based on SMS technology using GSM. In this technique some threshold data is set for unit consumption and it stops the energy supply when amount of unit consumption goes below the threshold value. After it reaches the threshold limit an alert message is sent via GSM i.e. as it reaches the subsidy unit. After it reaches it's monthly limit, it gives an alert message which indicates the bill amount. If the bill amount is not reimbursed then electricity will automatically be shut down after a period of time. Here only registered SIM card number is used to get information about the bill. If the consumer changes the mobile number and fails to register that changed number then the information won't reach the consumer

Abstract: Static Random Access Memory is a volatile type of memory used for enhancing the data rate of operations in devices for outer space applications. The semiconductor devices might be damaged or would experience a malfunction resulting in software errors due to avionics and radiation conditions. The ionising particles in space may lead to the state of change in the memory cell and distract the multiple bit operations in the written mode. This phenomenon is known as a single event upset (SEU). Scientific Advancements in various technologies and architecture design of SRAM are being introduced. Consequently, SEU type of errors could not be prevented but could be minimized to a significant extent. Here a 14 T based 3 terminal and 4 terminal CMOS SRAM cell is designed and is compared with a 15T 3 terminal and 4 terminal SRAM cell. Circuits are implemented using Tanner 16.5 version. Using MATLAB, performance metrics like SNM, read delay and write delay are observed. The proposed 15T SRAM cell improves the performance in terms of deviation in HSNM by 79%, 2% from 13T and proposed 14T SRAM cells during the rise in temperature. The CMOS SRAM cell is designed to minimize leakage by reducing the operating voltage. The proposed cells are also implemented using FinFET, CNTFET, and GNRFET technologies in the development stage. In the proposed 15T SRAM cell, power is reduced by 12.8%, and the delay factor reduced by 13.2% compared to 13T SRAM cell.
